Chocolate Fever
This extracurricular event is designed to strengthen students’ language skills while nurturing respect for their native language, history, and culture. By applying what they learn in English lessons, students develop a stronger motivation to learn other languages and recognize language learning as a modern necessity for personal growth.
Purpose
Encourage conscious, educated young people by showing how language shapes identity and opportunity.
Core idea
Learning languages supports communication, digital literacy, and patriotism through strong reading and speaking skills.
Format
A five-stage team competition where winners earn sweets and the overall champion is determined by the number of chocolates collected.

Good afternoon, dear students, teachers, and guests! Welcome to our intellectual show, Chocolate Fever! We are glad to see you and hope you enjoy today’s game.
Language is the primary means of communication. There are nearly 3,000 languages in the world. English and Russian are languages of international communication—the languages of Pushkin, Shakespeare, Lermontov, Byron, Yesenin, and Burns, whose poems, sonnets, and novels we love and respect.
Knowing foreign languages helps us communicate—online and in real life—and access the information we need. Through Russian and Kazakh, we strengthen oral speech, reading skills, and grow as patriots of our Motherland.

How scoring works
The show consists of 5 stages. Each stage includes two games. The winning team in each game receives sweets. At the end, the overall winner is determined by the total number of chocolates collected.

Stage I: The Island of Words
Game 1 — Build words from one long word
Each team forms as many correct words as possible using the letters from a single long word.
Examples: man, cat, knowledge, tent, leg, men, cow.
After the round, the team that makes the most correct words receives sweets.
Game 2 — The Chain
Teams create a word chain: each next word must begin with the last letter of the previous word.
Example chain
Stamp → paper → rose → east → tail → letter → …

Winners are determined by accuracy and speed.
Stage II: The Ocean of Numerals
Game 1 — Match numbers with words
Match each figure to its correct English spelling.

Game 1 — The Captain’s Competition
Captains must arrange the English alphabet in correct order from the given mixed letters.

Stage IV: Audience round & riddles
Audience game — Tongue twisters
Who can read the tongue twisters quickly and clearly? Active participants receive chocolates.
How much wood would a woodchuck chuck, if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
She saw shy sheep.
He that hatches, matches; hatches, catches.
Game — Let’s Guess the Riddles!
Each team receives four riddles. The fastest and most accurate answers earn points.
Sample riddle
A little old woman with 12 children—some short, some long, some cold, some hot. What is she?
Stage V: Time Out (talent showcase)
In the final stage, each team presents a short performance. After the teacher’s concluding remarks, the champion is announced based on the total number of sweets collected, and the winners receive awards.
