Lesson Theme: My Family

This lesson plan introduces young learners to family vocabulary in English while reinforcing the value of family (отбасы) through speaking, poems, proverbs, games, and a short role-play journey.

Lesson Aims (Сабақтың мақсаты)

  • Introduce children to the topic “My Family” and basic family-member forms.
  • Reveal the importance of the value “Отбасы” and expand children’s understanding of family.
  • Foster love and respect for family members.

1) Greeting Moment (Амандасу)

Teacher: Good morning, children! How are you?

Children: I’m fine, thank you.

Teacher: I’m glad to see you! Sit down, please.

2) Warm-Up Circle: “Heart” (Жылулық шеңбері)

Children come to the board, make a circle, and notice a heart in the teacher’s hands. Each child receives a heart and says who they want to be in the future.

3) Introducing the Topic: Family Photos

The teacher shows pictures of family members (mother, grandmother, grandfather, father) and asks: “What can we call them in one word?” Children answer: Family (Отбасы).

Then children present their own family photos and introduce their family members to the class.

5) Proverbs (Мақалдар)

Children recall proverbs about family members. The teacher supports meaning and encourages respectful discussion.

Ағасы бардың жағасы бар

Meaning: Having an older brother means having support and protection.

Әке — бәйтерек, бала — жапырақ

Meaning: A father is like a strong tree; children are like its leaves.

Інісі бардың тынысы бар

Meaning: Having a younger brother brings companionship and help.

6) Action Break (Сергіту сәті)

Children follow a simple movement chant to reset focus and energy.

Stand up.

Hands up.

Hands down.

With my foot I tap, tap.

With my hands I clap, clap.

Round and round and back again.

7) Role-Play Journey with Dara and Boti

Dara and her friend Boti visit the class and invite children on a short “travel” to Dara’s family. The route includes a forest, a bridge, and a beach. Children “pack” what they need: a bag and a map.

Dara: I must go to my family. Do you help me?

Stop 1: The Forest (Орман)

A fox appears and offers tasks. If children answer correctly, the fox helps them pass through the forest.

Stop 2: The Bridge (Көпір)

Children name shapes and colors in English to cross the bridge safely.
